adidas is making sure that it is handling the Black History Month launch of the Arthur Ashe collection with a confident cool that expresses a respect for the pioneer and civil rights tennis legend. While apparel is merely a representation of the outward appearance we want to present to the world, and really doesn’t speak towards what our true convictions may be; this collection introduces another generation to a man that was as important to Black America as any icon currently taught in institutions.
What exactly does a picture on a shirt or shoe do? It creates dialogue and the words we decide to use when explaining Arthur Ashe could build understanding of just how significant he was. Nice job adidas.
