I’m finally back to the Flip and typically when I see an all black retro, especially a 6 I get excited. My excitement now is tempered. I want to be excited, but when I see a Jordan Retro now I can only ask one question, “Will those go with jogger pants?” I know this sounds stupid, but it’s the truth. The best selling shoes now match jogger pants. The trend has shifted. Although it’s cold out and an all black retro 6 can be worn in the winter (I’m kind of leery of those perforations), I know that dudes are wearing skinny jeans (which still work with Jordans) and they are wearing Jogger pants, which don’t quite work with Jordans. So should I be excited? Let’s get to it.

*** I’ve been neglecting to say that I’m writing these for those people who don’t have a hookup or discount. On almost any Jordan Brand release if you get a discount you can flip it for a profit.

Since I do 3 checks before my decision I will weight them on a scale of 1-9. The max points on a scale = +3

*** New addition to the rating system: Tier 1: 0-25% = +1    Tier: 26-55% = +2     Tier 3: 56% and up is +3

First check: The Flight Club Check is on deck.  BG/GS is dead. Do not buy Retros in kids sizes to flip unless you are getting them at a discount and unless they are red velvet 11s. With that said let’s get to the FC price. 12/24/2016 the Black Cat is available in a full size run for 325-400. Actually size 9, 12, and 13 are sold out which is a good sign. I will automatically drop the price on this by 100 though because a week ahead of release and there are only 3 sizes sold out. To me that’s not a good sign. My FC price moves down to 250.00.  At 250 this leaves the price breakdown ROI:

Retail: 190.00 + tax = 200.00

Fees: 13% at a generous 250.00 sold price = 32.50

Shipping Fees = 15.00

Total cost of the shoe (If you don’t get a discount) = 247.50

I am not buying this shoe at all. I realize that 350 – 400 is solid for FC. If I say it once, I will say it again, you are not Flight Club. Even if I bump the price up to 300 this shoe remains a Tier 1 flip. Not bad if you are about that small percentage gain life. If you have a discount, go for it, but I can only give this shoe a…

Rating = +1

Second check: My second check is always on eBay. The eBay Check is always easier to make an estimation. Let’s check the last five sold listings for both Mens:

December 23rd – 199.00

December 23rd – 249.99

December 23rd – 299.95

December 23rd – 229.99

December 22nd – 249.99

When we do the average price for Mens 1228.92/5 = 245.784 My FC adjustment of 50-100 dollars is almost always correct. This time is another bullseye. I said the price for a regular customer is about 250 and eBay registers that price point which means that this remains a Tier 1 ROI so it is a

Rating = +1

Third check: My third check is now a combination of Twitter hype, launch locators and StockX. StockX has the Retro 6  https://stockx.com/air-jordan-6-retro-black-cat When you click to sell this is the current offer: HIGHEST BID: $209 | LOWEST ASK: $254 The ask is the seller’s price and the bid is obvious. This check along with the Footlocker launch locator shows me one important feature: Launch Procedure: First Come First Serve

If the store isn’t even doing a raffle that implies that they got enough of the shoes to meet customer demand. Every location in Memphis is getting the shoe and the map has that referee virus.

Rating = +1

My final ruling: +3 is my overall rating. What, you thought this release would be any different? The only Jordan that has performed beyond what I would have expected has been the DB7 and 11 Heiress. Everything else has been so so. That doesn’t mean that these won’t be big time in the future, but in the immediate if you don’t have the money to sit on them, do yourself a favor and skip the flip.
