The Jordan Formula 23 is available February 1 on Jordan.com and at select retail stores.
A few days ago Tayib wrote an article comparing the NMD to this shoe the Formula 23. I had to admit that the shoe is very similar, but today Nike dropped more details and marketing for the trainer. Their description list that it is influenced by the Retro 10 and once I read that, I could immediately see the style. I still agree with Tayib, this is a direct response to the success and growth of adidas’ retro inspired running footwear.
Nike has decided to do both an athlete endorsed marketing approach and an entertainer endorsed approach campaign. Michael Crabtree and A Boogie are featured in the campaign for the lightweight trainer and Jordan Wings Muscle Suit. The shoe is not really a performance model although it boasts “lockdown and lateral support.” This is purely a grab for the share of the market by Jordan Brand with a shoe and apparel line meant to move the crowd currently going bananas over the NMD/EQT and UltraBOOST. What do you think of the shoe? Leave a comment.
