Matthew Kish exposes us to another bevy of Nike patents in his latest article. Nike is an innovation and marketing company. Those who fail to understand this will not begin to introduce footwear and apparel that can translate to the new market.
Footwear and apparel is becoming an extension of our phones. We run and our phone knows how far and what the terrain looks like. If we are getting too warm during competition shirts are being created to help the body adjust.
All of the things we do are then integrated and shared socially. If companies aren’t finding a way to generate innovative products that perform technically, interact socially and give us a reason to wear (think green) then those companies will struggle in the new economy. Even the most savvy consumer is now walking into physical stores looking for a new experience, not just clothes on a rack.
