Okay I’d like to drop better pictures here, but this is a general overview of the Select Running introduced from Puma this season. The B.O.G. Colorshift above has obvious similarities to a number of drops from the past by other brands, but with the introduction of a 3D mesh the model is distinct and functional.
While the model may not pop in a big way with the market, if the option to buy based on comfort and tech arises (Huarache vs Tubular vs Colorshift) at 105.00 this model actually becomes a better option. If you’re like me and you’re always shopping for a deal you can even visit eBay and grab the kicks at below retail. There are also other limited releases in the B.O.G. not related to the Colorshift.
The Proknit Ignite in these monochromatic looks get the details and down and at 145.00 it comes in below all of the knit options from Asics, Nike, and Adidas. It does not beat out the Threadborne Slingflex at 100.00, but Slingflex only has the all white option in monochrome. On eBay there are non single color versions at a variety of prices, but non in my opinion offer a look as clean as the Proknit options shown.
I originally said that Puma wouldn’t be able to generate interest by men for their shoes. I still think that is a market that they haven’t targeted as well as they have for women. This is because a look at the website looks like a brand for women with their heavy emphasis on Fenty. This makes sense, but there has to be something that brings their men’s footwear to the forefront to sustain their positive growth of the last year. They have the product, but will he marketing sync?
