Another Housakicks Footwear Discussion with Tayib and myself. This one is actually really good. Tayib is asking about how sneaker lovers unwillingness to try different styles and brands hurts the business and hurts themselves in the long run. Video breakdown on YT with links. I mention Bobbito Garcia’s book:

Where’d You Get Those? 10th Anniversary Edition: New York City’s Sneaker Culture: 1960-1987 if you don’t have it you should buy it if you consider yourself a sneaker lover.

  1. These kids are told what to like, and they follow. They like to think they go against the grain, but they have been trained to not be creatively independent. Kanye said “,…then I spent 400 bucks on this, just to be like N*gga YOU AINT UP ON THIS!” Up on this-meaning the latest “NEW” thing. These kids will just spend a lot of money on the safe-same ol’ thing. I think it can be done, but breaking through is tougher these days.

    1. Like I said on Facebook, you are so right. In the video I talked about someone starting a Hypebeast/Complex styled website for guys that are like 26-50 years old. Something that shows fashion and style from a guys’ point of view who is graduating from Jordans to something more stylish and individual.
