The Volcano by Ronnie Fieg has long been a coveted collector’s pair. The second installation arrived this year and as expected it was sold out in minutes. This time around though a long forgotten shoe was included in the collab, the Gel Diablo. The chunky soled classic could have seen a lukewarm response, but obviously the limited nature of the shoe contributed to a frenzy and the shoe escalated into reselling territory. While the shoe isn’t exactly grown man status and definitely feels like it would be more in line with me rocking Hilfiger and Nautica in the 90s, when I saw the shoe I thought the subtle details in contrast to the bolder Gel Lyte Volcano made for an incredible juxtaposition when looking at the two shoes. While I know I couldn’t really get away with this on casual Friday it remains a shoe that I would balance with a Navy collared shirt and it just so happens ASICS actually makes the perfect Onitsuka Tiger shirt:
