This is an homage to the forefather of simple footwear movement. Y-3 was there before the Roshe and is the forefather of the NMD and Yeezy. It still remains one of the dopest shoes on the market. The difference between the other shoes listed and the Y-3 is the design elements of the Y-3 are often functional and stylish and they are always more ambitious. There are louder colorways of this shoe, but you will notice in this top 5 the colors are more muted and monotone which adheres to my decision to make aesthetics and multiple use a factor in my ranking. While the Y-3 wouldn’t typically be a daily wear shoe, this one could chunky Tubular outsole and all.
When someone brings up the Yeezy I always stress that you know the Yeezy is all hype because it doesn’t even compare to the Y-3. Next to the Y-3 the Yeezy is lazy and uninspired. Imagine this Y-3 with BOOST and you could basically forget that the Yeezy exists.
