Dominic “The Shoe Surgeon” Chambrone’s striking customs have been featured on nearly every sneaker forum/site worldwide, and rightfully so because he has mastered his craft. His latest project, the eBay X Air Jordan 1 is a testament of his attention to details. If you are a customizer and you want to improve your skills, The Shoe Surgeon is offering a three day course from December 1st to December 3rd in Los Angeles. During the event, the participants will be indoctrinated in the way of the Shoe Surgeon and will also have an opportunity to deconstruct and rebuild a pair of the Adidas Yeezy 350 V2. Tuition for the event will cost about $4500 and very limited spaces are available. This is the very first time the Shoe Surgeon is doing something of the sort; this reminds me of the Old Kung fu movies where the master decides to pass on his skills to a select number of disciples. Some may say the tuition is a bit high but I don’t think so, this guy has probably spent several frustrating hours to perfect his craft and I think the $4500 is actually a decent price, provided one will learn lifetime skills.

I’m just wondering if Adidas is sponsoring this event because the shoes of choice was the Yeezy 350 V2. We’ve reached an era in the sneaker world where consumers want to be more than just mere consumers; they demand exclusivity and they want to be owners as well. The market has been flooded with many more brands and every other day, a new shoe is being released; so the selection available to the consumer is vast. Just think about all the joint projects that have been birthed as of late; you’ll notice that brands are pretty much partnering with guys with strong ties in the sneaker community just so they can reach consumers. Artists with commendable skills like Mache, The Shoe Surgeon and the likes are going to be on demand. If you happen to be an artist and you believe your skills are marketable , now is the time to go gull force and catch the attention of sneaker brands. Unlike many analysts, I do believe sneaker heads matter to sneaker brands.
