Well damn! I mean everyone in the sneaker industry knew that Yeezy has completely transformed the level of cool of adidas in the US and abroad, but this takes the relationship where Nike would have never taken it.
While Nike is a dominant force and will remain a dominant force for the current future, this is definitely a sign that the market has shifted. adidas’ success has opened the door for real change that should make sneaker lovers happy for one reason: If you’re a Nike Stan you will be able to get more of the general releases that have been dodging your closet. Unfortunately this also means that if you’re a new adidas fan, you will be paying resell prices for adidas now.
When one trend ends, another begins. What I hope is that the door will be opened for other brands to prosper and that we enter a new “golden” age of sneakers like the late 80s and 90s where you could rock Ewings, adidas, Diadora, Etonic, Ellesse, Brooks or Saucony and still be considered fresh. What I’m saying is I hope this leads to wearing what you like again.
