Okay I’m back it with another post on whether you should risk your lunch money on a pair of kicks like you’re playing the stock market. Here are the checks:
First check: I hit Flight Club first and foremost to see if they have the joints early. Today is 8/25/2016 and FC already has a full size run available. When I peep FC I automatically drop my prices by 50 dollars and I use that as my baseline. When a shoe is over 300 on FC, I drop my price by 75. FC will always get max money on kicks, I (or in this instance you) won’t. Today’s rate on FC = 300.00 – 350.00 This places the range of the shoe at 225 – 275.00. On the retro 11 low at 170 retail this is a strong price point since you could break even on the low end and win on the high end.
This is a new thing I’m adding to give a shoe a rating for resell. Since I do 3 checks before my decision I will weight them on a scale of 1-9. The max points on a scale = +3
Rating = +3
Second check: I then go to eBay and use the Sold Listings feature to check what early pairs are selling for. Right now the first few pairs that have sold over the last couple of days is 219, 278, 299 do the average math and take 796/3 and I get a total of 265.00. If you look above at the price drop from FC the average price on eBay is right in line with my adjustment.
Rating = +3
Third check: Peep the Twitter feed is my final measuring stick. If there are a lot of Pre-Order posts, +1. If there are a lot of dudes talking about the shoe including the shops and some pics in hand, +1. If there are a lot of hearts and retweets, +1. This shoe has all of the criteria met.
Rating = +3
Should you buy to flip?
As always if you got the hook up and they were below retail, why not? If you are paying retail at 170 + tax, which is 180-185, then you add in Paypal fees of 3% (ebay add 10%, Amazon add 15%) and the average selling price early is 265.00 I would advise you to get your lunch money and see if you can grab a couple of extra pairs because this shoe is a +9 winner. I might even come out of retirement to grab a few pairs, especially since I know that locally only a few stores have them and they didn’t get many. This is a shoe that will pop no doubt, but I’ve been wrong before.
what sizes do you think will do better, sz 8-10 or bigger? and also do you think kids will do well too?
Typically when the men’s shoe does well, so does the GS version. As far as sizing, I only buy sizes based on people I know who already want the shoes are in my family’s sizes, so if a shoe tanks fast then I don’t have a problem keeping the kicks or giving them to a family member. In other words, 10-11.5 are the most popular sizes so choose based on your own research. LOL
