The Steph UA Curry 3 released yesterday and to my surprise, the shoes haven’t made a lot of noise. They don’t give you the WOW effect the curry 1 & 2 did, and moreover I think UA made a huge mistake by releasing the 2.5 series. For some reason in-between and hybrid shoes are alwasy welcome with a lukewarm response. My buddy Chris literally trash talked the Curry 3 but when I picked them up today, I began to develop an appreciation for them
I put the 3’s next to the curry 2 and the first thing that hit me was the weight- the Curry 3 is a lot lighter than the 2’s. ( the 3 weighs about 14.8 ounces and the curry 2 is about a 1 lb and 3 ounces). The Curry 3 features the thread borne technology on the upper part, which is intended to facilitate multi directional changes and keep the foot stable. The signature anafoam material covers part of the hel and the medial side, and offers the foot much more stability and a cushioned fit on the sides. I tried bending both Curry 2’s & 3’s and the 3 seemed to be more sturdy. I also really like the Heel counter which works together with carbon fiber shanks near the heel for much more stability. ii’m telling you from a functionality standpoint, these shoes are the REAL DEAL.
The only negative things i would say about these is their bulky look and the lack of branding acknowledgement- the “SC” logo is barely noticeable and the UA logo is featured on the ourtside of the tongue. I think they could have done a better job displaying more of the UA brand and Curry logo. Anyway watch the video below for more details.
