The WNBA is off and rolling. I’ve been intending to share stats on the league each day as a kind of old school highlight of top scorers in the league, but I simply haven’t gotten around to doing it which sucks. I’ve long stated that the WNBA would benefit from hiring a staff of bloggers to share videos and highlights as well as details on kicks from the games played throughout the summer. The cost of marketing would be minimal, but the impact would create a searchable index of info on the league broadening the reach of the brand and allowing for readers of those blogs to participate in various giveaways and campaigns… but alas no one calls me for ideas, lol.

It’s exciting to actually have a full roster of the players adidas is sponsoring in the WNBA. If you didn’t know who was rocking the Three Stripes (outside of Candace) here you go:

2016 WNBA Finals MVP Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks

2016 WNBA MVP Nneka Ogwumike of the Los Angeles Sparks

Chiney Ogwumike of the Connecticut Sun

Chelsea Gray of the Los Angeles Sparks

Alexis Jones of the Minnesota Lynx

Moriah Jefferson of the Las Vegas Aces,

Imani McGee-Stafford of the Atlanta Dream

Morgan Tuck of the Connecticut Sun.

The three new additions are:

Angel McCoughtry of the Atlanta Dream

What I’m hoping for are some great campaigns from this. I have been hopeful about a higher profile for the league with Nike taking over, but it’s interesting to see adidas add endorsers after allowing Nike to grab the NBA/WNBA contract. Since adidas moved on from sponsoring the two leagues, they’ve been more active in the sport. I speak about that in this post:

Why Would adidas Move Towards Basketball After Letting the NBA Go?

What I do hope is adidas can generate campaigns that will shine the light on the ladies as the game is in its purest form when they are playing and it deserves attention. Let’s hope the brand finds their direction here and that something dope comes out of it.

My fingers are crossed.
