adidas dropped a bevy of EQTs yesterday 1/26/2017 and they continue the onslaught of releases with new PureBOOST releases on 2/1/2017. While these colorways are clean, subtle and understated with muted branding, is adidas doing too much? Will the influx of new releases diminish the appeal of BOOST? Or is adidas simply capitalizing on taking shelf space from the dominant Nike and making sure to keep Under Armour in the rearview by delivering more of what people are looking for?
I think it’s what people want. The PureBOOST comes in at 140.00 vs Nike’s Flyknit Racer at 150.00. The shoe has a wider base and looks more appealing to people who aren’t certain about the Racer’s narrow footprint and thin layer of Lunarlon. With so many releases however will adidas find themselves leaving product on the shelves to be discounted? The next month will tell as Nike goes all in again on basketball during All Star Weekend for the NBA. Will people gravitate towards comfort or flash? February is going to be incredible.
