Our new Mid-Top URB (urban utility boot) the StriderĀ blends LA style with Detroit grit for a small batch boot that smells like a new car because it nearly was. Made collaboratively by COMUNITYmade and Pingree Detroit in our factories in Los Angeles and Detroit, utilizing locally sourced, sustainable materials, including surplus (upcycled) car seat and steering wheel leather from the Detroit auto industry, and upcycled suedes is paired with a VibramĀ® EVA midsole with a stabilizing shank and a lugged EcoStep outsole that uses 30% recycled Vibram rubbers for a smooth ride.

As a longtime fan of COMUNITYmade I don’t say this lightly, the Strider may be the dopest sneaker the Los Angeles based footwear maker has ever created. This says a lot considering they have made one of one sneakers for me which still turn heads today.

The ongoing partnership between Detroit and LA has made for some interesting designs using unexpected materials. The Detroit auto landscape introduces leftover materials from car manufacturers and COMUNITYmade has continuously found a way to elevate the partnership:

With this chunky, rugged Vibram outsole and a toecap that feels dressier than casual, the athletic aesthetic of the Strider takes the sneakerboot to a new luxury mode and will undoubtedly provide your collection with a standout performance model built more for Detroit than Los Angeles. The kicks arrive in men’s and women’s sizing and will ring up at a slightly higher price than premium Jordans, but the difference is these are made right here in the U.S. with real leathers and expert construction. Would you add the Strider to your collection?
