There isn’t any secret that I love COMUNITYmade. The Made to Order Brand may take a bit longer to get, but it’s worth it. The handmade sneakers are comfortable, but more important, when you consider that the products weren’t made in another country where potential problems exist in employment and production methods, when you consider that the sneakers aren’t shipping creating additional carbon emissions, or circling off the coast of a port near the U.S., the benefits, and pricing make a lot more sense. The pricing gets a break however. During the holiday season the brand is offering a 25% off discount now through 11-22-21. That’s even on their new Traction 2.0. The most athletic looking model the brand has made thus far.
It what looks like a blend of rugged outdoor and comfort, the Traction 2.0 aka The Hewitt has familiar elements, but stands apart in the use of a recycled midsole that is 85% recycled. In comparison, if you take a minute to go through my videos of Nike’s Move to Zero models, those shoes are only 20% recycled foam. That’s an incredible feat for a smaller company and it should give you an idea of how little other brands are doing in their search and move towards a more sustainable product.
The Traction 2.0 arrives in three colorways, but should be available for the Custom Studiomade program meaning you might be able to add your own flavor to the design. Additional features include a recycled Vibram sticky outsole, Ortholite insoles and one of my favorite features, because I have a tendency to always drop something on my shoe laces, handcrafted leather laces. This is may rival the Clarks Tor Run as one of my favorite sneakers of the year and if I decide to do a ranking of the Top Sneakers of 2021, the Traction 2.0 will end up on that list.
