I was in the process of doing a video for the Vapor Off White and because I’m not a fan of the shoe I decided to respond to Virgil Abloh’s comment that Streetwear is dying. I explain that streetwear can’t die because style is what you make it. The only way something dies is if you believe it’s a trend and you’re following the hype around products as opposed to wearing what you like without regard to what people think. Everyday you wake up, whatever you put on to walk down the street becomes streetwear. That could be a tee shirt and jeans or a business suit.
I also take the time to look at the Vapor Street and explain that maybe stitching bubble wrap on to a shoe and adding laces with descriptions is contributing to people looking at design as not being as developed and as well conceived as it could be.
