New Balance finally drops the Kawhi signature shoe, which feels more like a player exclusive as it doesn’t have the name Kawhi 1 like other signature models. Now, it could be that the shoe is named OMN1S and that’s the name Kawhi wanted… but guess what? No one told me that story. I’m looking for it as I type. I’m going to YouTube because I’m looking for something that connects old school to new school:

All I have is the video above and these pictures below.

Which gives me a much better idea of what the shoe looks like. To be honest, it’s actually dope. I like the design although I would have opted for a more traditional toebox as a carry over from the Worthy New Balance. The shoe doesn’t look bad at all.

Imagine this however:

Push play on the video below and then start reading (because you know YouTube is going to get their money for that ad). The beat drops from the classic Diamond D cut, a flash goes across the screen of James Worthy finishing a break (I know it’s hard to get footage, but this is a guerilla styled mash up video so we just snatched it). Instead of Worthy slamming for the finish it morphs into Kawhi. Each cut away of Big Game James getting a steal or making a play is morphed into Kawhi. Now go to the end of the video above of Kawhi when he turns to shhhhsssshhhhs the camera. Now go and run an ad of that video on YouTube and drive the views up. Old heads would respect the use of Diamond D and young dudes would actually recall that James Worthy is one of the greats, heritage x future = The Best Kept Secret.

New Balance, your content division needs to step it up because either Puma, Q4, or New Balance has the tools to usurp Under Armour behind Nike and adidas, but no one will do that as long as you stay inside of the box.
