I often have an issue with the commercialization of things like Native American Heritage, Black History Month and things that generally should be important without the added component of marketing. However, the amount of attention and support that a brand is able to generate for movements is incredible. At this moment with DAPL and other issues affecting Native American’s it’s important to bring as much attention as possible to the movements. Nike has done an excellent job in creating its annual N7 line. Since 2009 the brand has done its part to raise awareness. Although it is a commercial project, raising awareness is important even when it is a marketing tool.
