Source: Harding Jamboree 2024 – Complete Results
The season opener featured a roster of teams from around Shelby County:
- Briarcrest Christian School
- Cordova High School
- Fayette Ware High School
- Harding Academy
- Memphis-Area Home Education Asso
- Munford High School
- Tipton-Rosemark Academy
The event kicked off at 3pm and ended at 6:45pm. The weather was perfect and the bleachers were filled with parents and fans. The jamboree was a chance for many schools to get times for new athletes and a check-up for athletes who wanted a measuring stick for improvement.
There were some standout performances throughout the heats although the number of athletes in each event was a challenge. The staff at Harding kept things flowing with the help of coaches, athletes and parents from every program, which was definitely needed as Harding packed in a ton of events.
Athletes who performed exceptionally well in this early season opener on the boys side was Yianni Sinis a sophomore from Tipton Rosemark Academy. Yianni won both the 400 and 800 meter. Memphis Homeschool’s Junior standout Jamie Ellzey who took second place in the High Jump, but also landed at first place in the Long Jump and Jerciano Johnson who won both hurdle events.
On the girl’s side notable athletes were all underclass which bodes for some special seasons on the horizon for the athletes who stood out. Brynne Miller, a Freshman from Harding shined by sprinting to both the 100 and 200 meter event titles. This was Miller’s first event in high school and she ran in the last heat. Amazing work by the Freshman. Cara Bruce a Junior from Munford H.S. won both the 800 and 1600. Emmalee Lentile, listed as a junior with MHEA but is actually a sophomore, took off on the field by over 3 seconds in both the 100m and 300m hurdles. She also finished second in High Jump.
Harding ran an amazing jamboree to kick off the season. Special shout out to ASICS who delivered track spikes to the MHEA team and assisted athletes from various schools who didn’t have the proper footwear to compete.
