The Air Vapormax 2020 Flyknit arrives with a new purpose. The shoe is a Move Towards Zero, Nike’s sustainability mission that attempts to take the sneaker giant towards a Zero Carbon Footprint. This is an immense task for a company that produces so many shoes each year. The cost of this shoe is prohibitive for most and while it’s a good thought, it’s primarily a marketing tool as the majority of Nike’s footwear isn’t being produced sustainably. It’s a paradox for the Swoosh, that has to be supported by the greater population and I don’t see that happening unless Nike moves completely towards reusing all of their materials and creating every one of their models in a sustainable manner.
The shoe features a Fastfit styled lacing system with an upper made from recycled plastic.
