The fastest man in the world may have retired from track and field, but he’s been busier than ever as an ambassador for the Cat. His Puma backed World XI team took the field against British entertainer Robbie Williams’ UK squad. The lead up to the game saw both teams partaking in events in London and capping off the day with the big game in Old Trafford. The Soccer Aid event sponsored by Puma is the real star here.

But in the end, there was only one real winner anyway: Unicef raised record-breaking £5,540,259 for their vital work protecting children in danger around the world with the match.

At a time when England is facing a similar backlash, because of Brexit, to the US (and the issues created by Donald Trump’s immigration policies), the Puma backed event placed a humanitarian effort before product and policy to help UNICEF serve in protecting children around the world.

The world may have been focused on Puma’s relaunch of basketball in the NBA this past week, but if Puma is to really capture the hearts of the people it is this type of story that will drive the connection to the brand.

Usain for Unicef > Jay-Z and the NBA

Kudos Puma!
