This isn’t a detailed post on the Why Not? Zer0.4. It’s a celebration of the colorways dropping. I had no idea that Westbrook’s new shoes were given to artists to create palettes highlighting their work. It’s an intriguing concept because of the digital opportunities that exist within the sneaker community with art and NFTs.
Russell Westbrook has continually pushed for the empowerment of youth and women. The new WNZ.4 “Empowerment” represents these values, with colors inspired by the beige and orange WNBA ball. Laci used this palette as the foundation for her piece.
The ‘Empowerment’ color by Laci Jordan, talk about an appropriate name could easily be utilized in the launch of the WNBA season. When you consider the athletes Nike has just signed to the brand (these athletes signed to Nike), connecting art, the start of the W’s 25th season and a possible NFT launch of the artwork by Jordan could create a dope opportunity for discussion on several fronts.
Jacob’s groundedness is reflected in the Why Not? Zer0.4 “KB3” colorway, which honors and carries on the legacy of Russ’ late friend and former teammate, Khelcey Barrs III. KB3 is a reminder to cherish and celebrate our loved ones, including those who may have already departed.
Jacob Rochester took on the KB3 colorway which is a staple in the Westbrook line that celebrates a friend who died way too young. Again there is a chance to highlight the artist and the artwork displayed on the Jordan Brand site. It would be interesting to see this take shape.
