Black colored Boost comes to the Ultra Boost for the first time with the release of the adidas Ultra Boost “Triple Black.” The sneaker features a full core black Primeknit upper sitting atop a black on black Boost and Continental Rubber outsole. Release date is Oct. 13, 2016 at a retail price of $180.

Another first time shoe for the SYBTF series is the Ultra Boost. I’ve avoided doing any Boost related posts because they have all been far too easy to rate. This shoe falls in the same category, but it will be interesting to see what happens with how limited the release is, and with how people are beginning to expect immediate restocks from adidas. Adidas is literally wiping out their own resale value, which is good for sneaker lovers, but bad for the valuation of a product. It’s a careful game adidas needs to play. Will the Triple Black be comparable to the Pharrell and Yeezy line?

Since I do 3 checks before my decision I will weight them on a scale of 1-9. The max points on a scale = +3

First check: I hit Flight Club first. Today is 10/5/2016. FC doesn’t have the Triple Black, but they do have a host of other Boosts available and every pair is selling above retail. In some instances collab pairs like the J&D are selling for $600 dollars. None of the Ultra Boost are monochrome, except the all white, and this is one of the first instances of color Boost. If this Triple Black was waterproof, it would potentially hit $600 a pair. If adidas wasn’t becoming known for dropping restocks, I think the resale on this shoe would average $5-700 dollars a pair. I think this version will hit 400.00 because of the potential for restocks it will average out at 350.00 a pair.

Rating = +3

Second check: My eBay check shows sold listings of the Uncaged on Oct. 4th, 3rd, and 1st. That is the Uncaged Boost Triple Black. There is only one listing of an all Black Triple Boost and it has a best offer of 280. There is also a custom that sold for 400.00 for an average price of 340.00. I’m happy with this because it averages out just under my 350 projection.

Rating = +3

Third check: Twitter feed is jumping with similar pairs, but not many people have the Triple Black Ultra on hand which is a good sign that it will be a limited to particular stores. I can’t even check the Footlocker release launch for locations. This is a good sign.

Rating = +3

Should you buy to flip?

My total on a scale of 9 is a +9. This is a shoe that has become a staple and the decision to limit color Boost and claim to not be able to create a monochrome shoe was genius marketing from the Trefoil. At 180 this is easily a solid pickup to flip and I don’t see the value dropping from that 350.00 pricepoint at all.

  1. Fuck off flipping these. Some people aren’t hypebeast yeezy nut swangin’ fuckboys like your audience appears to be. Leave that flipping bullshit to those bulky and bunk Jordan’s. Let people who enjoy to run and hike a chance to ACTUALLY BUY and ACTUALLY USE the shoes and not carefully walk about with baby wipes carefully cleaning their precious status symbols all while trying their best to get acceptance from their weak-minded and surely cancerous surroundings. tl;dl – If you buy shoes to flip for profit, kill yourself and your immediate family.
