Tchernavia Rocker leadership profile at Harley-Davidson.

Project + Exec is a new series where I’ve decided to seek out footwear executives who are minorities (Black, Latino, Indian, Native American, Asian men and women) who are doing some dope work, but are being overlooked by the larger media outlets. It’s my small part. I really hope you look more into the brands and people behind them.

In one of the rare moments where I don’t write the person and let them know I’m dropping a post about them, I’m sharing this information from Under Armour who has just added a bit of diversity in the C suite to follow up the loss of Kerry Chandler who held the position of Chief Human Resources Officer.

Rocker is going to hold the position of Chief People and Culture Officer. I honestly haven’t ever heard of this position before, but if it means that there will be a person with substantial experience and with a diverse background who is proven, Tchernavia was at Harley-Davidson… Harley Davidson!!!!, it is a sign that the discussion around diversity is creating change.

“Rocker will lead all facets of the company’s human resources function. As a direct report to chairman and CEO Kevin Plank, she will partner with the executive leadership team to advance and execute Under Armour’s people and culture strategy.”

The symbolic gesture of bringing Rocker aboard at the start of Black History Month might be a bit much, but this is a good thing for UA. The company is still recovering from their strip club and boys club atmosphere and the only way to offset and change company culture is to actually change company culture. I used a link to Harley-Davidson at the header and I’m dropping a link for you to read about this on UA’s site:
