Nike is slowly implementing changes to help prevent fakes from being returned to the accounts. The brand is starting to roll out a new box label that features both a QR Code for marketing and an RFID tag to help with supply chain issues. While it will help with theft issues prior to the shoes being shipped, the actual shoe doesn’t have the RFID upgrade so a person could still switch the shoe in the box and return them or sell them to another person, but that becomes difficult since an original box would have to be purchased and an RFID can’t be reproduced, and no two RFIDs are the same. The question becomes will RFID be implemented into the size labels and will Nike create an app to read QR and RFID which could basically render aftermarket authentication obsolete for Nike newer Nike products?
