2029 Houston Middle pg Kolby Shaw is a smooth pg who plays with calmness and a quiet yet loud confidence. He’s easily one of the best point guards in the city. Shaw has a really good release on his shot, distributes to teammates, and doesn’t force the issue when it’s not there.
Notes
I didn’t get to see them, but I’ve heard great things about Bon Lin middle school. The squad is undefeated. The municipal schools are really good this year. I will be making my way to see them hopefully this week.
West Junior High (Fayette) has a player you need to keep an eye on. He’s a 7th grader but the physical profile and frame screams Division 1 potential. He looks to be about 6’3 and he has one thing on his mind, how I’m going to get this ball to the rim and score on you. I want to see him shoot it more, to open his game up for the drive but man, let me tell you, he looks as legit a prospect as anyone in the area. When I say anyone, I mean anyone. Remember the name of KJ Stephenson, I don’t think he’s tapped into his potential yet.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt right now, Elmore Park is the best team that I’ve seen so far but after them, I’m not too sure who takes second. The more I see in the next few weeks, the more I will be able to put together a top 5-10 teams. Here are a few teams though right now that I consider top 5 worthy after Elmore Park.
- Bon Lin
- Houston
- Millington
- Dexter
Now in what order, I’m not too sure yet. I’m going to put a top 5 out in the next week or so.
The list below is not a rankings list, again, let me repeat, this is not a rankings list. These are a few standouts from this past weekend that I had a chance to see.
