Inspired by our rich history of technical running innovation, KARHU is proud to introduce a brand-new silhouette to the lifestyle collection fresh from the archives of 2016. The KARHU Super Fulcrum is a modern retro sneaker based on an earlier prototype of similar name, the Super Fast.

The running shoe eclipsed basketball as the option for casual style. Even in a market where limited release sneakers are available days after they drop, it’s clear classic running aesthetics are driving the purchasing of those looking for a daily pair.
The Finnish brand Karhu is known for making beautiful alternatives to more popular kicks. While the brand has a bevy of classic 90s running styles in the Fusion and Aria lines, the brand took a trip into the archives to build a modern interpretation of a 2016 performance model named the SuperFast. Super Fulcrum captures the rocker style of bulky runners and places the layered look of retro to create a model capable of performing but suited for a stylish Friday night.
Coming in at $160 keeps the Super Fulcrum in line with New Balance’s 990s and the sneaker certainly looks like it could give Nike’s Vomero 5 a run when placed on the shelf next to that sneaker. The question becomes can Karhu continue attracting buyers in the U.S. The only location in my city that carried Karhu (it’s where I bought my Trampas) that boutique closed this year. Another story for another time… what do you think about the SF? Could it be in your closet?
