The box gave me an opportunity to look at StockX’s policy on box damage. Many people have had problems with boxes being damaged in transit and they have had to forfeit sales and lose money when selling on the StockX platform. The Air Max Flyknit Racer isn’t the first box from Nike to feature a resealable box meant to limit double boxing when shipping, but it is the first box to explicitly state that Nike will be shipping more sneakers this way.
While I don’t expect them to do this with every sneaker, I’ve seen when Nike stops using these boxes for shoes like the Crater Series, if a percentage of Nike footwear ships single boxed, it will undoubtedly hurt sales on StockX. The damage to the box will be immediate as the labels will be stuck to the sneaker box, much like a company I buy from often in COMUNITYmade. Their boxes are much sturdier than this Nike box. In transit, the box will get dirty at the edges and could rip. Will Nike actually follow through on shipping in a single box? The fact that the label will be visible could lead to theft or other issues. This will be an interesting update to watch.
