In a market where every brand has developed a sneaker boot, or winterized version of a running shoe, it’s hard to standout. I’ve dropped several articles here on the site about the best winter sneaker from each brand. I overlooked Puma. The Kori captures elements of the BOG (Blaze of Glory) and recent Tsugi Shensei, while also being waterproof and rugged enough for the elements with its jagged outsole under a IGNITE Tech midsole… so why did I overlook it?
With so much noise it’s easy to miss out on sneaker launch dates. I don’t even post sneaker release dates on this site. I leave that to the bigger sites who have a direct connection to brands. The problem is those bigger sites focus so heavily on more popular brands that Puma (which is actually a big brand) gets overlooked. Now it would be a smart thing for brands to hire marketing and content guys who looked for websites to submit release information to beyond the mainstream sites because a smaller site would pay more attention to the information, but hey that would be an easy road and getting readers a better story isn’t easy. It is very cool to browse and discover and share and that’s what you get.
The Kori is described as:
TSUGI represents the new PUMA Running Sportstyle era, taking cues from the past and revisiting them in a progressive way. Next to unique soft moulded overlays and a woven heel gore, the weatherproof TSUGI Kori features a neoprene booty construction that points to the iconic Blaze of Glory. The ribbed knitted collar, the sculpted tooling featuring IGNITE technology, and the rugged outsole make the Kori the perfect autumn and winter style.
- Knitted upper with suede overlays and neoprene bootie construction
- IGNITE Foam for high-rebound cushioning
- Rubber outsole
I definitely agree that the shoe is a solid pick-up for the upcoming weather. The most important aspect is the price. A weatherproof Timberland is going to run you up to 200.00. The Kori is a lightweight, athletic shoe rugged enough to replace your Timbs or more expensive drops at only (drumroll) 110.00. I’ve been ranking the sneakerboots this season and I stated recently that the New Balance Cypher and Under Armour Delta 2, had a challenger in the Brandblack Delta and the Ewing, but the real challenger could be this Puma Kori. The problem is if a tree falls in the forest with no one around… you know the rest.
