Omega Psi Phi 1911 – The Boot that never happened as told by the ROCKDEEP CEO.

Living in Memphis I see something that was rare in San Diego; the license plate of Black Fraternities and Sororities. I moved back to Memphis because I went to what was basically an all White college in San Diego State University. As much as I love my alma mater, there were elements of the college experience I missed that I really wanted to experience. Joining a fraternity was always on my radar. By the time I got to SDSU as an undergrad and as a grad student, the Black Fraternities were gone. In order to pledge you had to make an alignment and contact with someone at Cal State Dominguez Hills (Cali’s version of a Black college, lol). They were the only campus close enough willing to work with people in San Diego. This was the late 90s early 2000s. I grew up on School Daze. Drumline hit while I was in grad school and I knew very well the history of Black Fraternities and the men they created. I felt like I missed out on a part of that experience and I couldn’t pick up and go to L.A. to pledge so I built my own network of friends and kept it moving.
After grad school I had a chance to move back to Memphis to teach at an HBCU and I jumped at the chance because it felt like I would get to experience a different culture. I was young enough that if the chance came about to go grad chapter I would probably do it. That never happened. I did get a chance to be the advisor for a fraternity on campus, but that was the extent of it. I look back on my time in the Navy and as a college basketball player as my form of brotherhood.
Enough about me, this is about the boot in the picture above. The CEO of Rockdeep was on the brink of creating a boot for the Dawgs. He tells the story on his site. The boot did get designed, and he made a sample, but you need to read the story of what happened. FYI a sample like this can cost almost up to 5000 to make one sample before the production run is started. The idea that he went that far without an advance is crazy, but I get it. The shoe is available for auction. If you’re a Bruh, this might be your holy grail as far as kicks are concerned.
