Under Armour Black History Month Collection 2022: https://www.underarmour.com/en-us/t/black-history-month/

I did this video to explain how Black history and the treatment of women historical concepts aren’t in black and white. The mistreatment and issues with race are recent and continue to take place, in some instances, intentionally and in others by default. When a business is created, it’s done so with friends or people who are in the same places at the same time. That synergy needed to move from idea to actual business, is best with those we know. This tends to mean a group of Black, White, or any race is more than likely going to build a team with people who look like them or are near them.

Most businesses start this way and when they build, more people connected to the founders come aboard. As a company becomes older, hiring and opportunities are based on skill and education, but in some instances, nepotism remains in place. Under Armour’s celebration of Black history isn’t saying they value Black folks over other races. adidas’ Women’s Initiative isn’t saying women are more important than men. Both programs acknowledge that certain groups have a more difficult time of gaining access. Both programs are saying that learning about groups who have been oppressed and mistreated makes for stronger companies.
