Now, let’s take a moment to explain why a brand like Puma or New Balance can disrupt adidas, Under Armour and Nike… well not Nike since every kid wants to wear Nike and Jordan Brand in basketball. Actually let’s not concede this as fact.
Every brand looking to gain access to the feet of the next generation of athletes is utilizing an antiquated system that leaves out the majority of kid’s feet in the U.S. Instead of laying out what has to be done or what could be done that would be much cheaper than outfitting boys teams and moving them all over the country, every basketball brand should contact me and allow me to consult them about how and why they have been missing out on a considerable grassroots marketing machine that inevitably reaches more athletes than consistently sponsoring the same set of kids in the Gauntlet, Peach Jam and UAA (adidas, Nike and Under Armour). There are more kids who won’t play D-1 basketball than there are kids who do play… and those kids actually buy the kicks.
