York Athletics isn’t as popular as the big three brands in the sneaker industry. The company caters to fighters, a niche market of boxers and MMA athletes at all levels. I recently wrote a post on the gym Beautifully Savage to show how connected to their community the brand is:
lululemon | Beautifully Savage: Joe Buckner, York Athletics and the Lost Art of Authentic Marketing
In that post, I explain that I saw York’s sneakers in a Lululemon advertisement. York appeared like FUBU in LL’s Gap commercial in the 90s. The brand doesn’t overspend on a lot of marketing. They are building a grassroot business that operates in the midst of the people. I was scrolling through social media and saw a news article on this Blank Canvas program. I decided to drop a post to share the information. Smaller companies don’t have millions to throw at a problem. They operate with solutions-based engagement and York is doing so in an authentic manner that should be highlighted.
Giving Tuesday Initiative:
YORK Athletics is producing a limited-edition sneaker, The Frank by Jean Dario, that brings his conceptual idea and elements of his design to life. Starting on 11/30, through 12/12, 100% of profit from sales of The Frank by Jean Dario will fund a scholarship for his continued education.
