I don’t think I’m one of the rare guys that does all of the shopping in the house, but I honestly don’t know any other of my peers who spend as much time picking up kicks for their wives that aren’t sneakers. In the past I’ve written about brands attempting to crossover and capture new audiences, but I’ve also talked about how much better women are than men at shopping and how this has shaped sneaker retail. While it may seem like a generalization, after years of being in the sneaker industry I can say without flinching that if brands want to get women’s footwear sold at the retail price, they have to find a way to get husbands and boyfriends to see the product. Men are stupid. We buy at full price as soon as we see something that’s dope. We won’t hesitate because in fashion we tend to have FOMO and that overrides the logic that a particular shoe will be available long after the moment it’s released. Women will wait for a sale and a better price. I told you this was a generalization, but it’s kind of true.
During my daily browsing of sneaker/footwear sites I ran across the Timbs below. My first instinct was to go to my PayPal and buy two pair for my wife and daughter. I stopped myself and said “Wait a minute. I just got my wife and daughter like three pairs each in the last month.” Then myself said, “Yeah, but those aren’t sneakers… and they’re dope.” I didn’t click through and purchase, but I’m really close and I’ve compounded the issue by visiting a few brands that can compete with the Everleigh Gladiator Sandals. If I have a lot to choose from, it slows my impulse buying, lol. Here is a quick list of sandal-styled kicks to help your spouse get fresh for spring.
