Notes: Both athletes need to work on reaction times and their drive phase. In the girl’s 100m Victoria’s feet are also sitting on the ground for too long. Without any pop in the sprint (quicker foot turnover) the athlete will not reduce time in the 100. Brandon’s start was rough. This is due to a slow response to the gun and a tendency to come out of the drive phase too early. The drive phase issue can be seen clearly in the 200m race. At the start the drive is solid, but instead of leaning slightly into the turn and continuing to drive through the first 30 meters of the curve, athlete is extremely tall too soon.
High Jump for Anchor Point athlete Victoria Burns (2nd place finish – height 4-10)
Notes: Tips to work on for next event, planting a bit farther from the pit. Athlete’s penultimate step comes to close to the pit. This works fine up to 4-10 but causes issues when the height moves beyond the athlete’s actual height. A step back on the plant would allow the athlete to float over the bar vs simply clearing the bar.
