At 5 pair and counting, it goes without saying that I’m a fan of the work being done by COMUNITYmade. The brand is a leader in reshoring efforts and the husband-and-wife founders are some of the coolest, most knowledgeable people in the sneaker industry. This doesn’t mean what they are doing is easy. Handcrafting sneakers in Downtown Los Angeles takes a concerted effort. Adding in production methods from Detroit complicates the process.
It’s already a difficult prospect when asking a consumer to be patient. In a fast-moving social media driven society, where larger brands roll out 50 new sneakers in a small window of time, it takes a moment for you to get your sneakers from COMUNITYmade… but when they arrive you understand. While most luxury brands are only pretending to utilize quality craftsmanship and premium materials, a COMUNITYmade sneaker is truly a luxury item.
On this second partnership with Pingree a more approachable, classic cut is utilized. The first collab between the two brands was more of an acquired taste, but this pair lands squarely on trend with the resurgence of sneakers like the adidas Samba and other Terrace classics. As an owner of the “Westsider” I can immediately say this Eastsider looks to be a sturdier option. Does the wait time deter you from ordering? What can COMUNITYmade do to earn your business?
