As custom work is a big part of what COMUNITYmade does, my design on the Traction is in the queue. Usually you wouldn’t expect to hear anything from the brand at this point especially since they have been gracious enough to allow me to Skype the entire process; but today I got an e-mail from one of the co-owners stating how much he loved the new design.

When I first saw the Traction I thought the model had two pieces stitched together on the upper. The stitch was actually an accent design placed on a one piece cut. I didn’t realize this, so what I asked for created a new design (which they had already planned on doing, but let me give myself some credit, lol). I chose a raw hemp and suede upper and the accent stitch became a functional design element. The result is a more dynamic look for what has traditionally been a one piece upper. I know it’s hard to get a feel for the design when it’s incomplete, but I think the quality is what’s important and it shines through!

Let me know what you think.
