Dad shoes, retro runners, when the wave hits everyone rides it until it crashes on the beach leaving nothing behind. It’s actually frustrating to see in the sneaker world. I’ve spoken often about diversity in a sneaker closet and wearing what you like, but even I’ve fallen victim since I stopped making my own footwear. The last 8 years of running ARCH I wouldn’t wear any shoes by another brand. I missed drop after drop, but I looked on in admiration of brands fighting to regain shelf space in the U.S. Diadora has been releasing some of the dopest footwear out there, but I don’t have a single pair. I only recently began wearing other brands once I decided on shutting down the sneaker side of ARCH. I’ve bought over 3000 pair of kicks this year for ARCH Online Shop but not one pair of Diadora and that’s a shame.

Diadora was once heavy in rotation for me in the 90s so seeing certain models return is welcomed, but it’s frustrating because I buy what is selling for the shop. I haven’t had one request for a pair of Diadora, but I should have. The problem is Diadora isn’t exactly killing it in the marketing department and the imagery they’ve created undercuts the overall dopeness of the apparel. The video above is 1 minute. The tracksuits are on point, but the people, the cut scenes fail to deliver on the heritage… what’s worse for me is that you have a variation of the classic Black Sheep “Choice is Yours” in a techno format that fails to deliver any emotional connection.

Which sucks because the B.Elite court shoes with the tracktop only runs 90 + 70 bucks (160 for my lazy math fam) which gives you something unique and different, but definitely quality to add to the rotation. Someone who is not in the targeted market would rock this white and black B Elite with a fly pair of denim pants and this top:

So what exactly has to happen to create a more accepting sneaker culture in the U.S.? Is that really needed when I could simply order this set online and get the items and then talk about them or rock it?

I guess what I’m doing right now, while you’re reading this is enough. Someone who had forgotten about Diadora just said, “Ohhhhh shit son! I’m buying that.” Well, maybe they didn’t say that, but someone who hasn’t thought about Diadora just did and isn’t that what having a platform is all about? Sharing the stuff that you think is dope…

I’m pushing the shop towards taking more of a risk because while it’s dope to do videos of Nike and write posts about adidas because that guarantees eyes on the page, it’s even doper to not care if anyone is reading and just write about everything that’s fly asf.

Use the source link above to check out the F/W18 line from Diadora, and Diadora I know that you have a target market in mind, but how about a campaign for the old school and new school and actually get Black Sheep in the video, because this sounds much better than the music in your video:
