I’ve written two books on the sneaker industry and three books on business. Those books were based on my professional and personal experiences. I began my businesses in a very isolated way. I was new to the city after relocating, so I didn’t have a network. My second business I started after not understanding how licensing worked. I lost everything in both instances and had to rebuild.
Many of the problems I encountered happened because I didn’t have research material. Sneaker books tend to be about the founding of the companies (Just Do It, Swoosh, Jimmy Choo), or they are about the culture (Bobbito’s Where’d You Get Those?). My books on the sneaker industry are really the first that look deeply into the business aspects, but the discussion is rooted in personal experience, first, then research. This is the first book that I’ve seen combining Law and the cultural aspects.
I’ll be diving into this and writing notes. I’ll be posting my thoughts and doing chapter recaps. I hope you’ll join me in reading and discussing the book.
