In the discussion section on the Hibbett x City Gear acquisiton section I said that I wouldn’t buy $HIBB because they launched an e-commerce platform. I stated that incorrectly. I meant to say that the chain was down UNTIL they launched their e-commerce, which is only a temporary patch for the company’s continued success.
In the second half of the episode I explain once again why brands aligning with rappers and paying for it is a bad idea that only works in particular instances, but in general ends badly for brands not named Nike. adidas sponsored 21 Savage hosted a Halloween event with Puma and Foot Locker. it was for a good cause, but it really shows that brands placing an emphasis on Influencer Marketing do so at their own risk of appearing less authentic.
