My sneakerhead days are starting to get behind me. I gave my retro collection to my son (big ass feet) and I sold a lot of shoes when I launched ARCH. I spend most of my days rocking Cole Haan and Allen Edmonds. I always have some element of sneaker culture when I do rock my Lunargrands. I am particularly fond of one of my best pickups in the Cole Haan Lunargrand Wingtip Fragment in ivory. That shoe along with my oxblood Lunargrand Loafers are always in the daily mix. With over ten pair of Cole Haan’s everyone knows that they are my go too when I’m not keeping it 90’s in Clarks.
Anyway, there haven’t been many connections to sneaker culture for the brand until this drop. Staple remains one of the elements of streetwear and the Pigeon logo always turns heads and still commands serious interest. The question is who exactly is the Staple x Cole Haan for? Is it for guys like me who are not picking up weekly drops of NMDs or Jordans but we still respect the culture?
Will the drop have a serious sell through and hit resell like my Lunargrand Fragments once did? Probably not. Cole Haan has somewhat diminished their brand by going directly to the consumer and offering so many opportunities for discounts. That doesn’t mean that the Staple ZeroGrand isn’t dope. It’s a clean look and I’m certain at some point I will be adding it to the collection. What do you think about it?
