A few months ago when the PUMA Basketball journey launched again, I wrote a post explaining that I thought a lot was wrong with how it was done.
Puma, Jay-Z and the Top NBA Draft Picks for 2018 Walk Into a Room with UA, adidas and Nike Waiting
PUMA has corrected that by finally updating the splash page of their site above the fold and with links on the menu for the latest category for the brand.
On the click through there is a landing page with a countdown and one of the most important things I’ve found on a site for a brand attempting to break into a sport, A ROSTER. This is in comparison with Under Armour and adidas to an extent. Nike is a different animal because they have so many people signed that it’s easier to find who isn’t wearing Nike than who is. PUMA’s landing page on the click through tells you who is rocking with the brand. This is extremely important as one of the major problems for Under Armour is that they have one person as the face of basketball. Last year when Steph went down for the Christmas game, UA didn’t have a name or any representation in the NBA that could be found quickly. If PUMA is smart this page remains a staple on the site and as they add athletes there should be a roster page carefully curated and updated at all times. Why? Because one of the best things in the world for guys like me is knowing exactly what a rep is rocking when I visit the site for information. It’s important for PUMA in a much bigger way.
