As sneaker brands battle for second place behind the Jordan 1 as the “it” shoe, there has been a deep dive into the archives for every brand. The Slipstream is a retro release from Puma. It’s one of the first models in basketball not associated with a particular player like Ralph Sampson or Clyde Frazier, two signature athletes from the 70s and 80s. The shoe immediately captures an opportunity for unique color blocking and collabs. This drop with Butter Goods isn’t selling out quickly and is still available after a few weeks of release, but you can fully expect other colors of this model as PUMA strives to find a rival to capture the moment similar to how New Balance has done with the 550.
