American JuVaughn Harrison took down Tokyo gold medalist Mutaz Barshim with a clutch final jump of 2.35 meters to win the London Diamond League high jump.

Puma completely dominates men’s high jump. In a previous post I discussed Mutaz leaving Nike for the Cat. I also shared the battle of the 2022 Wanda League Championship featuring Gianmarco Tamberi and Juvaughn Harrison:

This weekend the final Diamond League event prior to the World Championships in Budapest took place. Unlike the NBC Sports coverage of the USATF nationals, Wanda League coverage is done in a professional and more inclusive manner. With a replay on Peacock and digital chunks on YouTube (which still doesn’t include enough of a breakout of each individual sport) The replay of Harrison vs Barshim showed the power of flight as the elegant arch of the high jumpers was on display… well elegant in Barshim’s jumps and powerful in Harrison’s. JuVaughn is the true example of a power jumper who has hitches in his movements, but still manages to clear heights. PUMA has a ridiculous track and field roster, and they should be utilizing them more often and really amplifying their support for the sport. In the meantime, enjoy this video of the cat sponsored athletes soaring over 7-7 inches. (That’s jumping over Victor Wembanyama!
