In the turbulent times of 2020, everyone seems to be looking for a way to protest or speak out. Whether it be for equality, representation or justice. While I don’t mean for Women’s World Wednesdays to be political or some self-proclaimed crusade of social justice, I thought it was important to shine a light on women in music. It’s of course easy to talk about the big stars such as Beyonce or Rihanna, but for this series I want to focus on lesser known artists.
This Women’s World spotlight shines on Rachel Rose.
I discovered Rachel Rose through Tunecore’s “New Artist Fridays” playlist on Spotify. She only has two songs publicly released and only one official music video on her YouTube, but the small amount of music she does have out is pretty good. As a Tunecore artist myself, I wanted to give her a shout out.
The challenge of being an indie artist is unlike any other side of the music business. When you release music, you are opening yourself up to internet trolls and people who may not understand what you are trying to accomplish. It’s a scary process. I don’t know Rachel and writing this may not ever reach her, but if I helped another artist to find maybe one or two more listeners, I’ve accomplished something good.
I’m not going to write a whole lot as I couldn’t find much information on her, but her social media accounts are below. I highly recommend checking her out.
