I have too many shoes. This isn’t good for the environment, but like John Coffey in the Green Mile, “I can’t help it.” Which he said to create a paradox. Not to wander off, but let’s go literary. Coffey was addressing that he can’t help caring about everything and feeling the pain of others so deeply. The reference to his initials were obvious, but just in case you haven’t seen the film (which you should schedule to watch this weekend), John heals people and takes on their afflictions. His use of the phrase, “I can’t help it,” also refers to instances where something was so broken, as powerful as he is, he couldn’t help it.

Now, I’m no John Coffey, but in the same way that he couldn’t help certain things, I feel the same about my interest in sneakers. I realize that my constant consumerism does nothing to help the environment. I also realize that if I can share information on brands who are working to improve supply chains and are making a sincere effort to make better footwear, then I can help just a bit. Clarks is a company that is making that effort. The upper of the shoe is constructed with some veg leather, but the upper itself can be deconstructed. The outsole remains the part of the shoe that does the most damage to the planet. The Tor Run is made,

With its Forest Stewardship Council ® 100% certified soles natural rubber crepe sole, the Tor Run features one of our the most socially and environmentally responsible outsoles to date. Made from the sap of the rubber tree – a natural, renewable resource – the FSC label means that the rubber has been harvested with respect for communities, wildlife, and the environment.

Right at this moment, I want these shoes. I don’t need these shoes, but as everyone salivates over the next retro Jordan drop, I’m looking at these kicks like a dude during quarantine visiting the site that starts with a P and ends with Hub. These are sexy asf. The unfortunate part is that the colors shown above are sold out. The colors below aren’t as beautiful, but they are definitely my cup of coffee (see what I did there?)
