I’ve been writing the monthly resale report to deliver data on the top sneakers sold via arch. My intent was to utilize a micro set of data as a comparison to top sneaker lists published by analyst using Point of Sales data. I’d like to establish that what is selling is typically in complete contrast to what is discussed on sneaker websites. A question must be asked, if I had all Jordan 1s in inventory, then Jordan 1s would dominate the sales, right? Not really. There are too many variables to make a claim and stand on that position. Especially when you consider other points of data.

When you remove the element of collabs or hype a true picture of which shoes are being searched for and viewed allows for greater insight into what buyers of product for stores and sellers should be targeting for inventory. I run a sneaker site, but I’ve built it in a much different manner than larger, older sneaker sites. Those sites focus on new releases that are popular. I look at the business and marketing aspects, which allows me to place distance between the product and my analysis. On my YouTube, I do videos of every shoe that passes through my hands. This gives my data an alignment with the greater society. Those people aren’t buying because they are reselling or collecting. They are buying what they like. I attempt to post at least 20 videos a month. I’ve done this seriously since 2018. There are over 1,200 videos. That’s a solid sample size for data.

I will begin sharing this report each month as another point of data. I think it’s very informative and will most definitely change your thoughts on what the hottest shoes are.

P.S. Feel Free to ask for charts on engagement, reach, and audience.

Things to note:

  1. Notice how long people spend on a video
  2. Consider this, in October I did five shoes consider hyped (Dunks, Jordans) none of them show up above
  3. There are 2 under 100 shoes. The others are from mid to high tier price point, but the most prominent shoe remains the Air Force 1. That’s in sales and in views.
  4. The fifth ranked sneaker video is from 2018.
