901Prepscoop – Every Sport, Every Day, From Memphis and Beyond
The Lawson family is Memphis’ version of a basketball dynasty. From head coach Keelon Lawson and his four sons who all played and still compete at the elite D-1 level to Chuck Lawson a local high school basketball scout who owns the website 901 Prepscoop, the family is connected to the rich history of Memphis basketball. Chuck Lawson is the sole scout and writer for 901 Prepscoop. He dedicates an almost unfathomable number of resources and time to covering basketball in this region. His writing reaches sources from ESPN to Sports Illustrated and he has done national coverage for Dunk Dog and other news outlets.
Chuck’s job is thankless and is not motivated by pay. He operates the site from his own pocket. Under Armour has been dialed in on supporting youth athletics and the brand took a moment to reach out and help Chuck to support local athletes who may not have the footwear needed to compete on the upcoming travel circuit. The brand hit Chuck and 901Prepscoop with over 60 pair of new basketball sneakers for both girls’ and boys’ teams. It was an unexpected gesture, but not surprising as Under Armour begins to craft a grassroots strategy less focused on only elite athletes and more focused on all kids interested in sport. My big shout out goes to the team at UA Basketball. Chuck will begin reaching out to young athletes and their families as the state championships in high school hoops come to a close.
