In this video, I conflate two topics… which I shouldn’t do. New Balance is rolling out a new bball lifestyle sneaker. It looks great and doesn’t have anything at all to do with my shift into discussing injuries of basketball athletes.

The only reason I mix up the two topics is because my college team captain stated that the lack of leather in these new sneakers is contributing heavily to the injuries. I explained that the amount of R&D is counter to that. However, I did respond that the decline in basketball sales overall in the U.S. is directly tied to the constant roll out of knit and mesh inspired releases that don’t have any ties to heritage. The materials of New Balance’s new lifestyle option features leather and the shoe looks good. If it becomes successful, I think it will be tied directly to the construction of the model.
